DURHAM, N.C. — Police on Wednesday released a composite sketch of a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault last month in Durham.

Investigators say a woman was walking in an alley between Ninth and Iredell streets around 12:30 a.m. on May 25 when a man with a knife pushed her to the ground and assaulted her.

The woman was able to provide only a vague description of her attacker, which resulted in the sketch.

A police spokeswoman said investigators don't think the attack is related to a sexual assault early Tuesday on Hope Valley Road.

In that case, a woman told officers she was waiting for a ride when a man dragged her behind a business and sexually assaulted her.

Anyone with information about either case that can help detectives should call the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440, extension 29349, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
