A Durham police officer was injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by a car, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham police officer was injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by a car, police said.

The wreck happened at about 2 p.m. while Cpl. Christopher Andrews was escorting a funeral procession on Fayetteville Street near Homeland Avenue. According to police, a vehicle pulled in front of the officer, causing the crash.

No serious injuries were reported in the wreck, but the officer was taken to a local hospital.

Fayetteville Street was closed between Pilot Street and Cornwallis Road following the crash.
