Durham officer punched in face while conducting investigation

Numerous police vehicles were seen at the HomeTowne Studios on Highway 55. A police captain told WRAL's Sarah Krueger an investigator was conducting a follow-up investigation when someone in "an agitated state" approached the officer, punching them in the face.

The man was taken into custody and arrested. Two other investigators were at the hotel and able to detain the man.

The officer who was punched was taken to the hospital as a precaution with minor injuries. Police said the suspect was not involved in the investigation that brought officers to the hotel.
