A Durham motorcyclist died Wednesday in a crash in northern Chatham County, authorities said.

<b>CHAPEL HILL, N.C.</b> — A Durham motorcyclist died Wednesday in a crash in northern Chatham County, authorities said.

Scott Cartwright, 65, was riding a 1963 BMW motorcycle southwest on Old Farrington Road shortly after noon when he went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, authorities said.

Cartwright, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said speed and alcohol weren't factors in the crash.
