Durham man pleads guilty in fatal drive-by shooting

Jasmond Jevon “Catfish” Rogers, 32, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the June 25, 2007, slaying of Quincy Bowens. He was sentenced to at least 33 years in prison.

Bowens, of Chapel Hill, was visiting relatives on South Roxboro Street when shots rang out. He pushed his 2-year-old niece inside the house but couldn't get out of the way of the gunfire himself, according to witnesses.

Rogers was arrested three weeks later at a Guess Street motel following an exchange of gunfire with police.

In addition to murder, he pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and three counts each of assault with a firearm on a government official and possession of a firearm by a felon.
