Durham man nabbed in online sex sting
Police on Thursday charged a Durham man with trying to solicit sex from someone he believed to be underage in an Internet chat room.
Posted — UpdatedJoseph Manantan Azada, 33, of 4706 Hoppers Drive, is charged with indecent liberty with a child, solicit a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act and disseminating obscenity to a minor under age 16. He has been released on a $50,000 bond.
Cary police began an online sex sting two months ago, with an investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl, Capt. Michael Williams of the Cary Police Department said.
Azada is alleged to have sent inappropriate material to the undercover officer and to have tried to arrange a meeting for sex.
