DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was arrested Thursday night and charged with committing three armed robberies in the past 10 days, according to Durham Police.

Officers, acting on a tip, stopped Cleveland David Edwards, 22, of 901 Chalk Level Road in the parking lot of his apartment complex Thursday night. Police said they found marijuana in his vehicle and charged him with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver.

He was also charged with the following armed robberies (all were committed with a firearm, according to police):

  • July 31 at 10:31 p.m. at the Quick Mart, 3801 North Duke St.
  • Aug. 1 at 12:38 a.m. at the BP convenience store, 2211 North Roxboro Road
  • Aug. 7 at 9:32 p.m. at the Quick Mart, 3801 North Duke St. (Edwards allegedly pulled the trigger on his gun during this robbery, but the gun did not fire, officials said.)

Edwards was placed in Durham County Jail under a $125,000 bond, authorities said.
