Durham drowning victim identified

Jorge Lechuga dos Caminos, 18, fell into deep water near the intersection of Tom Clark and Redwood roads at about 6 p.m. while fishing, authorities said.

DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities on Monday identified a Durham man who drowned in Ellerbee Creek Sunday evening.

Jorge Lechuga dos Caminos, 18, fell into deep water near the intersection of Tom Clark and Redwood roads at about 6 p.m. while fishing, authorities said. Dos Caminos, who also went by the name Jorge Agua de Carrizo dos Caminos, didn't know how to swim, authorities said.

His body was recovered by the Durham County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team at about 9 p.m. Sunday. There was no evidence alcohol or foul play was involved in his death, authorities said.
