Durham deputy struck by car will recover, office says

After being struck by a car, a Durham County Sheriff's Office deputy will make a full recovery.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham County Sheriff's Office deputy who was hit by a car on Tuesday is sore but escaped major injuries, the office said.

Deputy T.D. Hart was part of a funeral escort at the intersection of Broad and Perry streets when a driver failed to stop as the procession traveled by, according to a Facebook post by the office. The driver struck Hart's motorcycle, knocking him and the bike to the ground.

Hart sprained his ankle and suffered some other minor injuries but will make a full recovery.
