Durham Dems Offer Reward for Arrest of Sign Vandals

Party volunteers placed 250 signs around the city on Saturday opposing City Councilman Thomas Stith, who is running against Mayor Bill Bell. By Sunday, officials said, most of the signs were missing or had been vandalized.

Other Democratic candidates also have had their signs removed or vandalized recently, officials said. The campaign of David Harris, who is running for one of three at-large seats on the City Council, has had a large number of signs taken from intersections across Durham almost as quickly as the campaign replaces them, officials said.
