Duplin man pleads guilty to counterfeiting

Jokwan Lamar Harvey, 28, of Warsaw, pleaded guilty to conspiring to manufacture counterfeit federal reserve notes, manufacturing counterfeit federal reserve notes, possession of 15 or more unauthorized access devices, effecting transactions with access devices issued to others to receive payment during a one-year period greater than $1,000 and aggravated identity theft. He will be sentenced later.

A South Carolina man notified Duplin County authorities last year that unauthorized purchases had been made on his credit card and that the merchandise had been shipped to a Faison address. Authorities said Harvey frequently stayed in a residence next door to where the merchandise was shipped and that he would intercept the packages.

Authorities said further investigation turned up more than $22,000 in counterfeit currency at the house where Harvey stayed. During a search of the residence, officers seized drugs, firearms, counterfeit currency, counterfeit manufacturing instruments and evidence of credit card and identity fraud.

Two other people have already pleaded guilty in the case.
