GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigators have charged a Dudley man with stealing vending boxes belonging to the Goldsboro News-Argus newspaper.

Michael Jay Warren, 24, of 1668 Arrington Bridge Road, was charged with two counts each of breaking into coin-operated machines, misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen property.

Newspaper boxes at the Stoney Creek Store on N.C. Highway 111 North and the Grantham Store on U.S. Highway 13 South were stolen in January. Investigators said someone loaded them into a pickup truck, drove them to an area near the Neuse River and broke into them before dumping them in the river.

Authorities seized Warren's pickup as part of their investigation.
