Driver seriously injured following I-40 crash in Raleigh

One driver was seriously injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 40 in Raleigh on Wednesday night.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One driver was seriously injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 40 in Raleigh on Wednesday night.

The crash happened near N.C. Highway 54 around 9:15 p.m.

A spokesperson said one car was one the right shoulder of I-40 East when it merged into traffic and collided with a second car.

The driver of the car that merged was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver in the other car suffered minor injuries.

One of the cars involved in the crash was seen upside down in the road.

Three lanes of I-40 were blocked as police investigated the crash.
