Driver killed in crash on I-95 in Cumberland County

A Fayetteville woman was killed Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 95 near N.C. Highway 24 in Cumberland County.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was killed Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 95 near N.C. Highway 24 in Cumberland County.

Elvia Willison, 30, of Barefoot Road, was driving her Toyota Sequoia when the vehicle hit a bridge support in the median and caught fire, the state Highway Patrol said.

The impact of the crash killed Willison instantly, troopers said.

No other vehicles were involved.

Traffic moved slowly in both directions during the evening rush hour as firefighters and police responded to the crash.
