California man crashes car into Fayetteville AutoZone

Michael Robert Bohnet, 22, of Benicia, Calif., was driving the white Mazda 6 when it crashed around 10:30 a.m., into the building, which shares a parking lot with a Walmart at 4509 Ramsey St.

Witnesses described the car barreling through the parking lot and smashing into the store. Employees were inside the store, but none were injured police said.

Bohnet was alert and talking when he was taken to a local hospital. He was later released.

It's unclear why Bohnet might have driven into the store.

Fayetteville police Lt. Todd Joyce said he is in the Army and that relatives told investigators that they have concerns about his mental wellbeing.

The auto parts store was closed Monday and was expected to remain closed until building inspectors could determine it is safe to reopen.
