Driver charged with plowing through Raleigh playground

A man has been charged with driving through a school playground near Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man has been charged with driving through a school playground near Raleigh.

Charles Thomas Mapp, 39, of 160 Gaslight Creek, was charged with injury to real property and hit-and-run leaving the scene of property damage.

Police said a Ford pickup was southbound on South Boylan Avenue at about 3 a.m. Sunday struck a parked vehicle on the right side of the street, and the driver over-corrected and ran off the left side of the road through the playground at Project Enlightenment, at 501 S. Boylan Ave.
