DURHAM, N.C. — A witness to a hit and run that injured a 10-year-old boy in Durham helped authorities track down and arrest the driver, police said Sunday.

The boy was struck by a white pickup truck on the 1500 block of Chapel Hill Road shortly after 11:30 a.m. The truck's driver didn't stop and continued driving on the 1700 block of Palmers Street, police said.

A witness followed the driver and blocked him into a driveway until authorities arrived. He was arrested and charged with felony hit and run, but his name had not been released as of 7 p.m.

The boy, whose name was also withheld, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and hand.
