Dozens of guns seized from Apex home where mother, daughter killed

Deputies found the bodies of Melissa Mitchell McLain, 44, and Ashley Nicole Fite, 17, while checking on their home, at 7628 Humie Olive Road, on Jan. 9.

An affidavit used to obtain the search warrant states that a man called 911 to report that "Liam Miller" had told a mutual friend that he had just shot his girlfriend.

Lemuel Gabriel Miller, 47, who also lived at the Humie Olive Road house, was later found dead in the 1400 block of Cooper Store Road in Harnett County of a self-inflicted gunshot, according to authorities.

The search warrant lists an arsenal of handguns, shotguns and rifles taken from the home, as well as a shell casing from 9-millimeter Luger handgun. Deputies also took two cellphones, Melissa McLain's purse and a DVR system from the home, the warrant states.
