Downtown Apex will host a new series of events on the last Friday of each month with activities for a family night on the town or a moms' night out.

The first Finally Friday is set for this Friday along Salem Street. Many downtown stores will extend their business hours to 9 p.m. for the events. There also will be live music and restaurant specials. It's organized by the Apex Downtown Business Association.

For the inaugural event on Friday, the first 100 people downtown will get a free shopping bag, which will entitle them to more discounts for items bought at downtown Apex stores during any business association sponsored event all year. The bags will be available at the Apex Chamber of Commerce, 220 N. Salem St., on Friday.

Kids activities on Friday including free popcorn and inflatables at the Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; face painting; tattoos; hats and stickers at the Apex Fire Station; and more.

The business association's website has more information. The next one will be Aug. 28.
