DOT Plans Upgrades for Fatal Crash Site
The state Department of Transportation will make improvements to a local road where a Cary Academy student recently was killed in an automobile crash, authorities said Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedJohnnetta Camile Overton, 17, ran off Ligon Mill Road in her vehicle on May 11 and overcorrected, swerving into the path of an oncoming truck, police said. Police said preliminary reports show alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
Because of that, the DOT plans to improve the shoulders of the road and install new warning signs to ensure drivers approaching a bend in the road exercise caution, DOT spokeswoman Lisa Crawley said.
