RALEIGH, N.C. — A dog who survived a shooting in 2006 has died, his owner said.

Truman was first in the news when a Raleigh police officer answering a report of a dangerous dog shot him in the ear. Truman suffered a ruptured eardrum; the officer, R.A. Smith, was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Meredith Phillips said Truman recovered from the shooting to live another 3 ½ years before his recent death.
