Dog suffers setback in recovery from burns
A dog recovering from burns will require more involved and more expensive treatment than originally thought, a veterinarian involved in the care said Thursday.

Cocoa, a Chihuahua mix, was the victim of a fight between her owner, Dominique Clark and James Franklin Quick.
Clark said she let Cocoa out to play and the dog returned to the door on fire. Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office accuse Quick, 23, of Red Springs, with pouring accelerant on the dog and setting it on fire.
In a court appearance Tuesday, Quick, who is charged with animal cruelty, said he did not understand why people were making "a big fuss over a dog."
Cocoa was being treated at Cape Fear Animal Hospital, but the owner, Dr. Sarah Morgan, said Thursday that she recommended the dog be moved to a 24-hour care facility in Raleigh.
Morgan said Cocoa's care will ultimately cost between $8,000 and $9,000.
A medical supplier who heard Cocoa's story provided some burn treatment medication for free, and other members of the community have donated to help defray some of those costs.
