Dog dies in Fayetteville house fire

Authorities responded Friday evening to a residential structure fire that heavily damaged a home located at 2049 Ironwood Drive off Biltmore Drive in the Lafayette Village Neighborhood.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities responded Friday evening to a residential structure fire that heavily damaged a home located at 2049 Ironwood Drive off Biltmore Drive in the Lafayette Village Neighborhood.

Four adults and two children were able to escape the fire, but one adult suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Three dogs were also in the home at the time of the fire. Two were rescued but one was killed due to the fire.

No additional injuries were sustained. Officials said the fire is currently under investigation.
