RALEIGH, N.C. — Since the unexpected departure of Cafe Helios in late 2014, Glenwood South has been in desperate need for a coffee fix. Sweet caffeinated relief came in early October when Devolve Moto opened their doors. Easily the most unique cafe in Raleigh, the multi-layered establishment teams an adventure-influenced apparel and gear shop alongside a coffee and beer bar. Adorned with a love of motorcycles, the space is decorated with cycles, bikes, skateboards and other pursuits of bad-assery. You would think the retail shop might distract from the cafe, but Devolve is able to seamlessly incorporate the two functions.

Devolve takes its coffee as seriously as it does its bikes. Brewing locally roasted Torch Coffee beans, Devolve offers all the mainstays of the modern coffee bar. But along with the lattes and Americano, Devolve offers a few house specialty drinks as well.

One of the most enticing options is the Dulce De Leche. Filling the air with an inviting caramel aroma, the beverage drinks smoothly, mellowed by the condensed milk that slightly sweetens the drink. Hints of caramel entertain the palate but don’t distract from the coffee.

The liquid goodness doesn’t just stop at coffee - the cafe offers a long list of bottled and canned beers, everything from the cast of local favorites to Pabst Blue Ribbon. Baked goods from lucettegrace and breakfast tacos from Taco Revolution accompany the coffee selections.

Devolve Moto is a welcome break from the fanatic, nightlife-loving, partying scene that has become the norm on Glenwood South. From the roar of motorcycles to the smell of exhaust, there’s a ruggedness and style unique to the block - and definitely unique for a coffee shop.
