Destination: Stone's Education Superstore
Stone's Education Superstore moved from its home of 42 years to a new spot of N.C. 54 in Cary last week. It's ready for holiday shoppers!
Posted — UpdatedStone's, which opened in Raleigh in the 1940s and called Tryon Road home for 42 years, has long been a destination for Triangle teachers and parents looking for educational material, games and activities.
The Madisons designed the space with families in mind. For kids, there's a book nook where they can cuddle up with a stuffed animal and read . There's also a Playmobil table for toddlers and preschoolers to play with. Demonstration toys are scattered throughout the store. There's even a table with a whiteboard top where teachers can make notes or kids can just draw.
"This is definitely a hands-on store," Carol Madison tells me.
She also wants long-time Stone's fans to know that their favorites are still there, just in a bigger, more open building.
"We haven't changed that area at all," she said of the school supply side.
The store, 210 Hampton Woods Lane, is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday.
