Despite delay, teachers not concerned by construction at Rolesville Elementary

Due to construction, teachers have not been able to get into the building. The construction is part of a $20 million renovation project which will include a new gym, cafeteria, music and art room.

In the meantime, teachers at Rolesville Elementary have been getting ready for the school year with group training at Rolesville High School.

Third-grade teacher Chelsea McClusky said this is her favorite time of the year.

"I am so excited and looking forward to meeting my new kids and the new building brings extra excitement," she said.

A spokeswoman for the school system said the project is on schedule and due to be completed today, but Principal Dana Dougherty-Primiano said it is not ideal.

"We are ready, we are ready to go," she said. "We are going to be ready and we are super excited to have all of our kiddos back."

Despite the delay, teachers say they are not concerned.

"We still have plenty of time so I am not stressed at all," McClusky said.

The construction is part of a multi-phase project that will be completed in the summer of 2017.
