FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Sheriff's deputies accused a Fayetteville man of shooting seven times into a house occupied by his ex-girlfriend Thursday morning.

Detectives said that Trevor Gerard McKinnon, 27, fired from a handgun into a home at 2236 Caramel Drive around 8:30 a.m. McKinnon's ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend were in the home, but neither one was injured, authorities said.

Neighbors reported the gunfire, and deputies responded and quickly apprehended McKinnon. Deputies found a handgun under the driver's seat of his blue Ford Contour.

McKinnon was charged with felony discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into an occupied dwelling. He was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $1,000 unsecured bond.

His first court date was set for Friday, Oct. 24.
