Deputies: Caretaker attacked, stole from handicapped woman
The caretaker of a handicapped woman assaulted her and stole prescription drugs from her, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
Posted — UpdatedJonathan McKeown, 41, attacked the woman on Friday when she confronted him about the theft, Maj. Gary Blakenship said. He dragged her to a different room of her house, assaulted her and then fled, authorities said.
Deputies arrested McKeown a short time later, but while handcuffed, he escaped, Blakenship said. He was caught at the victim's house a few hours later.
McKeown, of 2038 S. Chatham Extension, was charged with felony kidnapping, breaking and entering, possession of a controlled substance, assault on a handicapped person, damage to personal property, injury to real property and resisting, delaying or obstructing justice.
He was placed in the Chatham County jail under a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for April 16.
