Department of Justice closed by carbon monoxide leak
The state government building that houses the North Carolina Department of Justice had to be evacuated due to carbon monoxide. The building was closed for the rest of the day while the source of the carbon monoxide was located.

Patty McQuillan with the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety said between 300 and 400 people were evacuated Thursday morning from the old Education Building in downtown Raleigh. State Capitol Police initially attributed the problem to a propane gas leak.
McQuillan said one person was taken to a local hospital after complaining of headaches and nausea. The person's condition wasn't immediately known.
Police officers evacuated the building, at 114 W. Edenton St., which includes the office of Attorney General Roy Cooper, shortly after 11 a.m. The building reopened at about 3 p.m.
