WENDELL, N.C. — Investigators believe that the death of a Wendell man found in a burning house last week might be suspicious, according to a search warrant released Thursday.

Wendell police searched a house at 225 Lakewood Drive, where Quinton Lamont King, 36, died on Tuesday. They also searched his girlfriend's 1999 Honda Accord, which was parked at the house.

Investigators stated in the warrant that they were looking for any evidence that someone else might have been in the house. They also seized photos of the scene taken by the Wake County Fire Marshal and the City-County Identification Bureau.

King's girlfriend, Kristuline Hope Ellis, escaped from the house fire, and when firefighters arrived, she told them that King was trapped inside, the warrant states. He was unresponsive when firefighters found him inside the home, and paramedics coudn't revive him.
