With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we decided to ask some of the folks in the newsroom their picks for romantic or date places. WRAL anchor David Crabtree gave us a variety of places great for dates or just a great meal!
18 Seaboard (Raleigh) - Jason Smith's vision for his restaurant is delivered with every meal. Excellent service. Wonderful menu selections. Fresh vegetables...from local growers! Nice wine selection all at a most fair price. Nice bar...open and warm.
Second Empire Tavern (Raleigh) - One of my favorites....not only here...but anywhere! Kim Reynolds magnificent Tavern is warm...excellent dining...great wine list...friendly atmosphere. Great bar minus the hassles.
Roast Grill (Raleigh) - It is what it is! Best hot dogs on the planet...George and his mom never forget what you ordered...even years later. Where else on the planet can you get a hot dog and baklava? (warning...don't ask for ketchup)
Fearrington House (Pittsboro) - Elegance re-defined. Service and food and wine 5 Star. I do wish it were closer...but it's worth the drive. Special occasions can't get anymore special.
Players Retreat (PR) (Raleigh) - History. Phenomenal hambuger. Diverse. Great conversation. Great price. And oh yes...Gus! His ownership has brought new life to this icon. Gus Gussler makes everyone feel welcomed. It's worth the effort.
