Daughtridge to Industrial Commission
Cabinet secretary Bill Daughtridge has been named to the Industrial Commission, Gov. Pat McCrory's office announced Friday.

In a release Friday, the Governor's Office announced that Daughtridge has been appointed to the state Industrial Commission, filling the vacancy created when the governor named former commission Chairman Drew Heath as his new budget chief.
"Bill’s common sense leadership drove reform that resulted in savings to the taxpayer and better customer service for our citizens," McCrory said in a statement. "I look forward to his service on the Industrial Commission where he will be a sentinel for North Carolina’s workers and citizens."

Daughtridge, a Republican, is a former Nash County lawmaker who served in the state House from 2003 to 2008, when he ran unsuccessfully for state treasurer against Democrat Janet Cowell. He was hired as an adviser by then-House Speaker Thom Tillis in 2011 and joined the McCrory administration in 2013.
His appointment is subject to confirmation by state lawmakers when they return to session in April.
