DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County prosecutors have dismissed an arson charge against the woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006.

A mistrial was declared last month after a jury deadlocked on whether Crystal Mangum was guilty of arson in a February 2010 domestic dispute. Prosecutors have decided not to retry the case.

Jurors found Mangum guilty of three counts of child abuse, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer in the case. She was sentenced to 88 days in jail, which she had already served while awaiting trial.

Police said Mangum assaulted her boyfriend on Feb. 18 and set some of his clothes on fire. Mangum maintained that the pair had an argument and that he hit her, prompting one of her three children to call 911.
