Cyclist killed in Fayetteville collision

A bicyclist was killed Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car in Fayetteville, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A bicyclist was killed Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car in Fayetteville, police said.

The cyclist, whose name hasn't been released, failed to yield to oncoming traffic at the intersection of Rosehill Road and Osceola Drive and was hit by a 1999 Ford Taurus traveling north on Rosehill Road shortly before 1 p.m., police said.

Police closed Rosehill Road between Ramsey and Courtney streets until about 3 p.m.

The collision remains under investigation.
