Lakendrick Johnson was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. According to authorities, the child wandered out of his grandmother's home and fell into the swimming pool.

Deputies said they responded to a 2:45 p.m. call about a disturbance in the 2800 block of Whisper Oaks Court in the Cander Woods subdivision. The investigation is ongoing.<br />
