Cumberland police searching for man in connection with fatal shooting

Cumberland police searching for man in connection with shooting death
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person of interest in the Tuesday afternoon shooting death of Anthony Williams.

Police are searching for Brandon Baldwin, 28, of 3317 Davis St. in Hope Mills, for questioning in the case.

Williams, 51, was found shot and unresponsive at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the backyard of a home at 3610 Pickerel St. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Baldwin is currently wanted in Columbus County for assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon.
