FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County Animal Services is waiving the adoption fee for all cats and kittens from July 18 to July 23 at the Animal Services Center in Fayetteville.

"We have more than 100 cats and kittens in our shelter," said Animal Services Director Elaine Smith. “When we are at capacity like this, it creates a more stressful environment for the cats. We need to reduce that population through positive means to prevent illness.”

The shelter is open for adoptions from Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. The shelter is located at 4704 Corporation Drive.

All adopted cats and kittens will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

“Finding great homes for all our cats and kittens is a top priority,” Smith added. “Waiving the $70 adoption fee will allow new owners to spend more on items like toys, treats and cat trees.”
