LAURINBURG, N.C. — Emergency crews battled a fire at Nature's Earth Pellet Energy, at 16900 Aberdeen Road in Laurinburg, Thursday morning.

No one was injured at the company, which makes kitty litter. The fire was contained in a silo at the plant, and explosion-proof doors prevented the flames from traveling farther.

Seven Scotland County Fire Department fire engines, three tankers and an air truck and rescue responded to the scene around 8:40 a.m.

The fire was under control by 1 p.m. but rekindled around 1:45 p.m. Firefighters returned to put it out again. No other information was released.
