Students sustain minor injuries in Raleigh school vehicle crash

Authorities said that the school transportation vehicle was involved in the crash just before 3:10 p.m. and no children were seriously injured.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A multi-vehicle crash involving a school transportation vehicle closed a portion of Lynn Road Tuesday afternoon in north Raleigh.

Authorities said that a Reese Transportation contract vehicle with several Lynn Road Elementary School students onboard was involved in the crash just before 3:10 p.m. at the corner of Lynn Road and Valley Drive.

Three students were taken by EMS to WakeMed for treatment of minor injuries and a fourth student was taken to WakeMed by a parent, said Matthew Dees with the Wake County Public School System. Two other students were taken home.

The driver of the school vehicle, identified as Shirley Leather Bledsoe, was taken to WakeMed with undisclosed injuries.

Frances Oakley House, 83, was a passenger in the other vehicle, which was being driven by Billie Wooten House, 85. Frances House suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, police said.

Police said the driver of the other car involved in the crash suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.
