CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A car hit a power pole on Franklin Street, knocking out power to a small number of customers early Monday night and closing the town's main east-west thoroughfare for a time.

The single-vehicle wreck happened near the intersection with Boundary Street around 7:30 p.m. No one was injured.

Duke Power officials said they had crews on the scene, making repairs. About 14 customers lost power.
