FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — At least two people in Cumberland County who use the Craigslist.com online classified ad service have been robbed in recent days, authorities said Tuesday.

One man said he went to a house on Salmon Drive Sunday prepared to spend $450 on a laptop computer. A woman met him, but he said three men then emerged from the home and attacked him.

The men stole his wallet, the money he had brought for the laptop and and his cell phone. The thieves also stripped a stereo system from his car.

"Whenever they all surrounded me, that's when I felt it was too late," said the man, who asked not to be identified. "She already had the bag and she was opening it, and when she opened it, there was just books. She threw it down, and they immediately started attacking me."

The man was treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for cuts and bruises.

Deputies on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for Veronica Jenerette, 21, of 200 Perch Drive in Fayetteville, on charges of second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Jenerette was described as a black woman, 5-foot-1 and 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She has tattoos of a cross on her face, a teardrop under her eye and the name “Christina” on her upper chest.

Anyone with information about Jenerette's whereabouts or any of the three men wanted in the case is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.

Deputies urged Craigslist.com users to meet buyers and sellers in a well-populated area and never at an unfamiliar home.
