Counterfeit bills being used in Clayton

Clayton Police have responded to four reports of counterfeit currency used in local restaurants in the past week, according to a press release.

CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton Police have responded to four reports of counterfeit currency used in local restaurants in the past week, according to a press release. All of the bills have been a $100 note with the same serial number (HF 96620737 A).

The U.S. Secret Service is working together with Clayton Police detectives in this investigation.

Anyone with information about this crime can call the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 919-359-8479 to anonymously leave a tip. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest.
