<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A traffic alert is in effect this weekend for part of downtown Raleigh.

A construction team will shut down Lenoir Street between South Wilmington and South McDowell streets starting at 6 a.m. Saturday. The closure will allow crews to conduct utility work for the new downtown convention center.

The street is expected to reopen to motorists at 6 p.m. Sunday.

A temporary detour will allow motorists to head north on Wilmington Street, west on Davie Street and then south on Dawson Street.
