Your tweens and teens can make a little money back on all those clothes you've purchased at Abercrombie and Aeropostale now that Upscale Resale is offering a special section for tween and teen clothes.

Upscale Resale has featured the best of children's clothes at twice yearly consignment sales in western Wake County for a few years. The sale has offered only high-end children's clothing in newborn to size 12.

But this summer, the sale is expanding to include trendy clothes for tweens and teens, making it unique among the region's consignment sales.

Sale owner Toni Carpenter's kids were barely in elementary school when she and friend Katy Williams first started the sale in 2007. Now Toni has a son headed to middle school and, as she tells me, "we're buying Abercrombie and Aeropostale and it's expensive."

Toni spoke with some of her consignors whose kids also were aging out of the sale and she decided to give it a try.

"My biggest concern was whether or not teens would be willing to wear previously owned clothing," Toni tells me. "Several moms assured me that going green is where it's at and their tweens and teens are very interested in doing their part to reduce, reuse, recycle (and make a little green as well)."

Like the children's clothing it sells, Upscale Resale will only accept certain brands for tweens and teens. You can see the full list by clicking here and scrolling down.

The sales fall/winter season sale is scheduled for Aug. 12 to Aug. 14 at the Cary Masonic Lodge. And there's still plenty of time to get your kids to clean out their closets. Registration for consignors is open.
