I'm excited that Go Ask Mom will be a part of the Fox 50 Family Fest from noon to 5 p.m., Oct. 1, at American Tobacco Campus in Durham!

The annual event takes over the lawn at American Tobacco with lots of family fun. Noah's Landing, the non-profit zoo from Coats, will return with a live animal showcase. National jump rope champions "The Bouncing Bulldogs" will get the crowd going. The Sandbox kids and family band will play. The YMCA will have field games and activities. You'll find face painting, balloon art stations and more too, including opportunities to win an iPad 2 and see the Fox 50 Terra Nova Dinosaur Experience!

Of course, the big event is the Great American Tobacco Duck Race, which benefits three non-profits - the Durham Literacy Center, Explorer Post 50 and the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. The duck race activities start at 3:30 p.m. with a duck decorating contest, followed by the duck races down the Ol' Bull River at 4 p.m. There will be a duck decorating tent filled with art supplies for the public during the event from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Ducks are on sale now for $10 for individuals and $250 for businesses or you can buy them the day of the event. The duck race is sponsored by Duke Medicine, Go Ask Mom's sponsor.

I'll be there with some giveaways, a contest and some crafts for the kids.

Check out the website for all the details. I hope to see you there!
