BOLTON, N.C. — The collision of a four-wheeler and a car in Bolton Thursday night claimed the lives of four men, Columbus County Highway Patrol troopers said.

Wilbert Jermaine Daniels, 21, of 2019 Blacksmith Road, was driving the four-wheeler. Jeremy Michael Freeman, 22, of 268 Freeman Lane, was driving a Nissan Altima. The two were traveling parallel when Freeman swerved, hitting Daniels. Both drivers died immediately, as did Channing Darnell Freeman, 24, of 1010 Blacksmith Road, who was riding in the front seat of the car.

A back-seat passenger in the car, Matthew Steven Freeman, 25, of 753 Buckhead Road, was taken to a hospital where he died, troopers said.

Authorities were investigating precisely what caused the driver of the car to swerve and did not provide additional details.
