SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Johnston Community College employee was arrested Tuesday in connection with recent bomb threats made against the campus, police said.

Talitha Renee Ponce, 29, of East Waddell Street in Selma, was charged with three counts each of making a false bomb threat in a public building and damaging school property. She was being held in the Johnston County Jail on a $53,000 bond.

Two threats were made against the college last week, and a third threat was found written on a bathroom wall Monday, police said.

A tip led to the arrest of Ponce, who was a janitor at Johnston Community College, police said.
