Clouds stay put to close work week; rain arrives Saturday

"We've seen some sprinkles in parts of the area this morning, and we could continue to see those in spots," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "Despite that, we'll avoid widespread rain today. Clouds will be with us all day."

Daytime highs will climb into the mid-50son Friday, about normal for early December.

Clouds will thicken early in the day Saturday, and the bulk of the rain will arrive in the Triangle during the afternoon and evening, Gardner said.

Highs Saturday will climb into the low 60s.

Rain will clear the area early Sunday, although it could be later in the day before sunshine returns.

"We'll clear the rain out of here early Sunday, but we're going to call it mostly cloudy for now," Gardner said. "We'll be dry, and maybe we'll get lucky and see some sun late in the day."

Cooler temperatures will arrive behind the system, as daytime highs on Sunday and early next week will return to the 40s.

Overnight lows will also back down to near normal for early December, falling into the upper 20s and low 30s for the bulk of next week.
