CLAYTON, N.C. — A student at Clayton High School faces a criminal charge and $10,000 bond after he was found with a gun on school grounds Friday morning.

Anthony Shane Jenkins was charged with possession of a weapon on campus, Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said.

A schools spokeswoman said the student resource officer was alerted to a threat and took action.

"Because of students who do the right thing here at Clayton High School, we were able to ensure the safety of our school, staff and students," Tracey Peedin-Jones said.
