Family of Clayton hit-and-run victim wants driver to come forward

Kenneth Clark, 51, was sitting near the roadway at the intersection of West Main and Mulberry streets around 9 p.m. Thursday when he was hit, police said. According to witnesses, Clark was hit by a utility trailer being pulled by a white pickup truck – possibly a Ford F-150.

Police said Friday that the driver may not be aware of the accident, but Clark's family said they want to see an arrest.

"We're very angry. We want some answers. We want to know what happened," said Clark's sister Tina Clark-Smith.

"I would just like for somebody to come forward," said Jenifer Ray, another sister.

Clark has undergone three surgeries, with a fourth scheduled for Tuesday, and suffered multiple bone fractures in his back and ribs.

Clark-Smith and Ray said their brother was known around town as friendly and easygoing.

"There's not a moment you come through Clayton (that) you don't see Kenny, as people around town know him," Clark-Smith said.

She said she hopes someone in the area saw the crash, and that they will come forward with information leading to the driver.

"I don't see how they could be so cold-hearted, you know, to hit a human being and leave him beside the road to die," Ray said.

Clark-Smith said the family isn't giving up hope for her brother's quick recovery and an arrest.
